Meet Nia
Nia is a dedicated full-spectrum doula who began her journey in October 2021, driven by a deep commitment to supporting mothers through one of the most transformative times of their lives. For Nia, doula work extends beyond physical support during childbirth—it’s about instilling confidence, preparation, and empowerment as women step into motherhood. She believes that when mothers are equipped with knowledge, tools, and resources, they can navigate this transition with strength and grace.
Her philosophy, "Nurture the mother, elevate the community," reflects her unwavering belief that mothers are the foundation of society. A nurtured and supported mother raises a healthy, thriving child, ultimately strengthening the entire community. Through her work, Nia helps facilitate this cycle of care, offering holistic support that honors the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
Nia received her initial doula certification from Shaman Tomecas of Omorose Blessings, where she gained a deep understanding of the spiritual aspects of birth and the sacred nature of bringing life into the world. She later trained with Janisa Camille of Doula of the Divine, where she developed the hands-on skills necessary to competently and compassionately support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. These formative experiences shaped Nia’s holistic approach, blending both the spiritual and practical aspects of doula care.
A firm advocate for ancestral wisdom, Nia emphasizes the importance of reconnecting families with traditions that have long supported women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. These time-honored practices help prepare mothers not only physically but also mentally and emotionally for the journey ahead.
Beyond her doula work, Nia is a babywearing consultant and childbirth educator, committed to equipping parents with practical knowledge. She has completed two herbalism trainings and continues to expand her expertise in natural healing. As a community breastfeeding educator, she provides compassionate, evidence-based support to mothers navigating their feeding journeys.
Her dedication to birth work led her to train as a midwife’s assistant with Black Sisters Birth Academy, earning her Phase #1 Certification and gaining hands-on clinical experience under the mentorship of Nar Sanders from Protector of the Womb and Mama Sarahn from Birth in the Tradition. In September 2024, Nia took the next step in her calling by enrolling in an accredited midwifery school, continuing her path toward becoming a licensed midwife.
Through her holistic approach, Nia is committed to fostering a nurturing and empowering environment for every mother she serves, ensuring they feel seen, supported, and uplifted as they welcome new life into the world.
When she’s not on call, Nia enjoys spending time with her husband, indulging in good books, listening to true crime podcasts, and trying new plant-based recipes. Most importantly, she’s a proud cat mom to Onyx, her sweet (and delightfully independent) fur baby.
